From now on we can offer you the improved version of the Dornenglanz III: In ox it is now much better suited for block balls than the first version. The new version is maybe a bit faster than the old version, so we are now giving the speed 3 instead of 2.5.
Otherwise there is almost no difference between the old and the new version and both versions look 100% identical. We will therefore no longer sell the first version with immediate effect.
The rubber compound of Dornenglanz III contains many artificial polymers that make the base softer and more elastic than all other long pimples from SpinLord. In addition, the Dornenglanz III is very handy.
The (by the way very robust) knobs themselves are slightly wider than the other long knobs from SpinLord. The distance between the pimples is average. The knobs have a cylindrical shape with a small conical reinforcement on the knob bottom. The knobbed heads are finely fluted.
The Dornenglanz III is noticeably slower than the previously available long knobs from SpinLord, only the barbed fire is almost in the same tempo range.
In direct comparison to the also very slow Lion Claw, the Dornenglanz III plays completely different due to its incomparably higher elasticity and the softer rubber compound. It is more versatile and the ball flight curve is shorter and more dangerous.
The Dornenglanz III is particularly suitable for playing at the table, as it is primarily made for an active and aggressive style of play.
The improved version that we are now selling is also great for playing blockballs (active and passive). In the case of block balls, it is now very similar to the zeitgeist in terms of playing behavior, while it is more effective than this rubber on other strokes. Overall, the Dornenglanz III in ox can now be rated as an improved version of the zeitgeist (and less as a new version of the Dornenglanzes or the Dornenglanz II).
In ox, too, the classic backspin defense is quite possible and also dangerous.
In the version with a sponge, the backspin defense is even more effective, so the version with a sponge is a good option for classic defenders. The version with a sponge is also hardly faster than the ox version (although the control is a bit less). For playing block balls, the Dornenglanz III with a sponge is significantly weaker than the version without a sponge.
By the way, the sponge is a very slow and soft sponge "Made in China". Overall, the Dornenglanz III in 1.0 mm is still slower than other long pimple rubbers in ox.
The Dornenglanz III can be easily combined with almost all types of wood.
As with almost all SpinLord rubbers, the control values for Dornenglanz III are very high. Therefore, the Dornenglanz III is also very suitable for players in lower leagues.
